The snow that fell during the night also whitened the valley floors, giving the landscape an enchanting wintry look. However, if on the one hand the flakes make the atmosphere more atmospheric, on the other hand they bring with them a number of challenges, especially in terms of traffic. This morning, the Trentino Civil Protection activated a dedicated operations room, precisely to monitor the intense traffic linked to the Immaculate Conception festivity. At the moment, the inconveniences are contained. From an altitude of 800 metres, an average of between 5 and 20 centimetres of snow have accumulated, with the maximum of 45 centimetres on Grosté, at 2,258 metres. In Valsugana, snowfall caused accumulations of between 5 and 20 centimetres, while in the Adige Valley, snow was mixed with rain in places. During the night and early morning, the 1-1-2 operations centre received about thirty emergency calls concerning road accidents without serious injuries and stranded vehicles. The episodes mainly occurred on the Cimbri Highlands, in Val di Non, Vallagarina and Val di Sole. Please note that it is compulsory to equip vehicles with winter tyres or snow chains. On the A22 at the moment the traffic is flowing, but it is expected to intensify in the southbound direction starting from late morning due to the return of holidaymakers.
