Public research
The Autonomous Province of Trento, through Provincial Law no. 14 of 2 August 2005, promotes a territorial development strategy based on knowledge, recognising in the promotion, growth and dissemination of research and innovation a fundamental tool for the growth of human capital, the development of the enterprise system and the quality and competitiveness of the entire provincial territory.
The provincial research and innovation system operates with over 4,000 employees. It is mainly made up of the University of Trento, the Edmund Mach (FEM), Bruno Kessler (FBK) and Hub Innovazione Trentino (HIT) Foundations, around which gravitate a multiplicity of research centres, public and private, nationally and internationally accredited, institutes, laboratories and multi-entity projects, national laboratories, spin-offs and start-ups.
