Major projects - Research projects financed by Provincial Law 14/2005

Since 2016, 'project sheets' have been prepared for projects reported by the Research and Innovation Committee of the Province (CRI) and for 'Major Projects' financed by the Autonomous Province of Trento, with the aim of fostering dialogue between science and society and making the activities and expertise developed within the provincial research system known to the general public.

Description

Improving people's quality of life.

This is one of the objectives of scientific research carried out in Trentino, research whose results are now internationally recognised.

In order to foster dialogue between science and society and to make the activities and competencies developed within the provincial research system known to the general public, various initiatives have been implemented, such as thematic events, information and dissemination material, including the'project sheets' below.

For some time now, the provincial government has recognised research, innovation and higher education policies as a priority for territorial development, and over the years has defined and consolidated an articulated system of regulations and instruments on the subject, and promoted a wide range of actions and various funding lines to direct and support their implementation.

The main instrument is the Provincial Law 14/2005 which identifies agreements with the Bruno Kessler and Edmund Mach Foundations, the University of Trento and research organisations as the main means of intervention, as well as calls for funding for research projects.

The Multiannual Research Programme of the previous legislature had divided the funding methods into different lines of action, including development projects, exploratory or 'curiosity-driven' projects, and 'Major Projects', i.e. initiatives that aim to advance the Trentino research system in strategic directions that are likely to lead to significant developments, both in terms of scientific results and application potential.

Major projects set broad long-term objectives and imply the mobilisation of qualified human resources, the creation of new laboratories or specifications.

The call for 'Major Research Projects 2012' saw the funding of the following 6 projects, which ended in 2017. Below are the links to the files on these 6 Major Projects:
