Scholarship for study programmes abroad in non-EU countries for the 2026/2027 academic year

By Provincial Council Resolution No. 1738 of 17 November2025, the Notice setting out the criteria and procedures for awarding scholarships to upper secondary school pupils to undertake study programmes abroad in non-European Union countries, with a view to improving their language skills and enhancing their understanding of other cultures, during the 2026/2027 academic year.

This grant is intended for attendance in the:

• Year 3 for pupils attending four-year upper secondary schools
• Year 4 for students at other upper secondary schools.

The study programme must be undertaken at a foreign educational institution based in a non-European Union country.
The course of study may be of one year’s duration or shorter.

The scholarship is paid in two instalments:

• the first, as an advance payment, is equal to 50 per cent of the total amount (including any additional amount granted by the Administration in the case of students with disabilities). For details of how to apply and the deadlines, please refer to the Notice.
• The second final instalment, amounting to 50 per cent of the total amount, following the completion of the study programme subject to verification of the Final Report completed by the foreign school (including any additional amount granted by the Administration in the case of students with disabilities)

The scholarship cannot be combined with vouchers or similar benefits awarded for the same purpose by the Province or by other public or private bodies, including non-profit organisations (e.g. INPS, Fondazione Caritro, Intercultura, WEP, etc.).

The organisation of the study programme is the responsibility of the student and their family.

The student is required to:

• attend a school abroad for the entire academic year for a minimum of 240 days, failing which the scholarship may be reduced or withdrawn (annual duration)
• attend a school abroad for a minimum of 110 days, failing which the scholarship may be reduced or withdrawn (partial duration)
• submit, at the end of the course, the assessmentform/final report (Final Report), drawn up by the foreign institution (in accordance with the prescribed procedures), certifying the period of attendance and a positive assessment.

The application may be submitted either by the parent who originally applied for the scholarship or by the student, provided they have reached the age of majority.

The application must be submitted online using SPID, CIE or CPS login credentials.

Scholarship recipients are required to submit the following documentation:

1. the ‘application for payment of the first instalment’ form.
The following changes are permitted to the scholarship application already submitted:

• a change to the host country, bearing in mind that the scholarship amount awarded in the ranking list constitutes the maximum amount payable in any case; the scholarship amount will, however, be recalculated if a country with a lower amount is chosen, in accordance with the table referred to in paragraph 3 of the Notice;
• reduction of the programme duration from one year to a shorter period; the scholarship amount will be recalculated in accordance with the table set out in paragraph 3 of the Notice
• change of study programme during the 2026/2027 academic year: a change (from the first to the second semester or vice versa) is permitted in order to meet students’ needs

2. tax deduction form for the relevant year.

Applications for payment of the first instalment may be submitted from 10.00 on 14 July 2026 until 12.30 on 28 August 2026.
