Description
The Laboratorio Europa is a free educational programme that explores various European topics in an engaging and interactive way.
The project is fully compliant with national regulations on the teaching of civic education (MIUR Guidelines 2020) and with the provincial guidelines on civic education and citizenship for the Province of Trento (Resolution No. 1233 PAT of 21 August 2020, pursuant to Law No. 92 of 20 August 2019). It is available to all school levels and is delivered directly at the schools that request it.
The Europe Workshops are flexible and are agreed upon with teachers, adapting to the needs of the classes, the teaching programmes and the characteristics of the various study programmes. They normally consist of one session lasting two school hours each and incur no cost to participating schools.
For the 2026–2027 academic year, the three standard modules are available:
1. The EU in our daily lives
How much of a part does the European Union play in our everyday lives?
We often don’t realise it, or we take it all for granted. Yet the benefits of EU membership are numerous and tangible.
As European citizens, we live on a continent where peace is a well-established reality. We can travel, study and work freely in any Member State, use the same currency – the euro – and be part of the world’s largest economy. These advantages make our lives easier and full of opportunities, even if we do not always stop to reflect on their value.
2. The 3 As: Environment, Agriculture and Food
A for Environment
The environment is everything around us: the natural world from which we draw the resources we need to live. But natural resources are not infinite, and our current level of consumption poses a serious challenge for the future. Protecting the environment means protecting ourselves and future generations.
A for Agriculture
Agriculture is essential for our survival, but it also has a significant impact on the environment, the climate and our health. Unsustainable farming practices can cause soil, water and air pollution, as well as overexploiting natural resources. The EU promotes more sustainable agriculture that protects the environment and ensures safe, high-quality produce.
A for Food
Food is at the heart of our lives. To protect citizens’ health, the EU has introduced clear and transparent labelling systems: every product must accurately indicate its origin and the route it has taken to reach the consumer. This enables people to make more informed choices and allows products to be traced quickly in the event of any problems. In addition, there is a European network of rapid alert systems to protect citizens from any food risks.
3. Opportunities for young Europeans
Engage, connect, empower: these are the three pillars of the EU’s youth strategy.
The aim is to give young people more tools and opportunities to grow, learn and participate actively in community life.
The EU supports mobility, volunteering and non-formal learning projects, offering young people the opportunity to develop skills, gain experience abroad and build networks of contacts across Europe. In this way, the younger generation is helped to become more informed, active citizens, ready to face the challenges of the future.
