Description
The erection of signs or other means of advertising outside built-up areas is subject to the prior issue of a landscape permit by the territorially competent Territorial Planning and Landscape Commission (CPC). The following types of signs fall within the definition of tourist road signs
- directional signs indicating services or activities placed along or near the route;
- signs or signalling elements aimed at advertising services or activities placed in the vicinity of the sign
- information elements installed by public bodies or institutions of an educational nature or containing information of public interest concerning the territory.
Pursuant to Art. 23(4) of the Highway Code, the placement of signs or other means of advertising along roads or within sight of them is in any case subject to authorisation by the road owner.
The procedure consists of
- taking charge of the application, both for the issuing of landscape authorisation for the placement of signs and for the issuing of the authorisation required by the Highway Code, by the road-owning entity (Employment Support and Environmental Enhancement Service)
- evaluation of the documentation and project documents; on-site visit to verify the prerequisites;
- positive assessment of compliance with the Highway Code;
- acquisition of the opinions of merit by the territorially competent Territorial Planning and Landscape Commission (CPC);
- communication of the outcome to the applicant with a copy of the CPC decision.
