Description
Leader is a tool, provided for in the CAP Strategic Plan and the related Programming Complement for Rural Development in the Autonomous Province of Trento, designed to promote rural development projects conceived and agreed upon at local level with the aim of:
- revitalise the local area
- create jobs
- improve general living conditions in rural areas
The body responsible for implementing the LEADER approach is the LAG (Local Action Group): a partnership between public and private bodies that is responsible for defining intervention strategies and managing the activities provided for therein.
The Autonomous Province of Trento has identified an area eligible for LEADER funding comprising the Primiero Community, the Valsugana and Tesino Community, the Alta Valsugana and Bersntol Community, the Altipiani Cimbri Community, the Leno Valleys (Terragnolo, Vallarsa and Trambileno), Ronzo Chienis and the Cembra Valley.
Through the submission of an application, the call for proposals has selected the Territorial Local Development Strategy and the Trentino Orientale Local Action Group (LAG), the implementing body for Intervention SRG06 - LEADER initiative under the 2023–2027 Rural Development Programme Complement of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
LEADER Committee
By Resolution No. 234 of 21 February 2025, as last amended by Resolution No. 1100 of 17 July 2026, the Provincial Executive approved the establishment of the LEADER Commission for the 2023–2027 programming period.
The Commission is responsible for:
- supporting the Provincial Managing Authority in the selection and approval of the Participatory Local Development Strategy and in the assessment and approval of any requests for amendments;
- approving the initiatives submitted as part of the implementation of Intervention SRG06 – LEADER by means of an expenditure authorisation document which enables the LAG to decide on the award of the grant to the beneficiary.
The members are:
- the Head of the Rural Development Policy Service, the Managing Authority of the CSR, acting as chair;
- the Director of the Management Authority Support Office, acting as vice-chair;
- representatives of the following provincial departments:
- Agriculture Service;
- Provincial Payments Agency (APPAG);
- Forestry Service;
- Europe Task Force;
- Tourism and Sport Service;
- Sustainable Development and Protected Areas Department.
