Leader is a tool, envisaged by the CAP Strategic Plan and the related Programming Complement for Rural Development of the Autonomous Province of Trento, to promote rural development projects designed and shared at local level in order to
- revitalise the territory
- create employment
- improve the general living conditions of rural areas
The implementing body of the Leader approach is the LAG (Local Action Group): a partnership of public and private entities that takes charge of defining intervention strategies and managing the activities they envisage.
The Autonomous Province of Trento has identified a LEADER-eligible area that includes the Primiero Community, the Valsugana and Tesino Community, the Alta Valsugana and Bersntol Community, the Altipiani Cimbri Community, the Leno Valleys (Terragnolo, Vallarsa and Trambileno), Ronzo Chienis and the Cembra Valley.
The call selected, through the submission of the application, the Territorial Strategy for Local Development and the Local Action Group (LAG) Trentino Orientale, implementer of the Measure SRG06 - LEADER of the Programming Complement for Rural Development 2023-2027 of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
LEADER Commission
With Resolution no. 234 of 21 February 2025, the Provincial Council approved the establishment of the LEADER Commission for the 2023-2027 programming period.
The Commission is in charge of
- supporting the Provincial Managing Authority in the selection and approval of the Participatory Local Development Strategy and in the assessment and approval of any variant requests;
- approve the initiatives presented in the framework of the implementation of the SRG06 - LEADER Intervention by means of an expenditure authorisation document that allows the LAG to deliberate the granting of the contribution to the beneficiary.
The components are:
- the Director of the Rural Development Policy Service, CSR Management Authority, as chairperson;
- the Director of the Support Office to the Managing Authority, as vice-chairman;
- the representatives of the following provincial structures
- Agriculture Service;
- Provincial Payments Agency (APPAG);
- Forestry Service;
- Europe Simple Mission Unit;
- Tourism and Sport Service;
- Sustainable Development and Protected Areas Service.
