General information
So-called 'orphan sites' are those contaminated sites that have not been remediated by those responsible or by the owners of the land, because they are unknown or in default. The precise definition of an orphan site is contained in Ministerial Decree 269/2020, which establishes a funding programme for the environmental restoration of these sites. In relation to the funding provided for by Ministerial Decree 269/2019, the Autonomous Province of Trento, through the Provincial Environmental Agency (APPA), after assessing the priority requirements and taking into account the indications of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, identified the orphan sites on its territory in order to apply for the necessary resources.
Subsequently, in May 2023, the Province took note of the allocation of funding for the reclamation of the site called 'Contaminated land via Gozzer in the Municipality of Borgo Valsugana'.
The project consists in permanently securing the site by means of 'capping'.
The area of land affected by the intervention is 540 square metres.
Goals
Reducing land occupation and improving urban regeneration by redeveloping orphan sites, with the burden of replacement works being borne by the public administration.
The objective is therefore to redevelop at least 70 % of the land area of the orphan site.
