General information
New plants for the production and storage of green hydrogen, useful for the development of a sustainable local economy, will be put into operation in disused industrial areas: green hydrogen, produced using only renewable energy sources, is a key tool for a more sustainable energy system and for achieving the decarbonisation targets set for 2030 and 2050, as envisaged by the PNRR.
The interventions envisage an electrolyser for the production of renewable hydrogen and related auxiliary systems necessary for the production process, including any hydrogen compression and storage systems, as well as one or more additional auxiliary plants, including any storage systems for the electricity produced.
In order to keep costs down, disused areas already connected to the electricity grid will be used: electrolysers for hydrogen production through RES (Renewable Energy Sources) over-generation or dedicated RES production in the area will be installed there.
The following three projects were approved for funding in March 2023:
- H2_POLYTECH, presented by Polytec Energy Srl and Polytec SPA, which was granted a contribution of €7,499,731.61 for interventions to be carried out in the Storo and Borgo Chiese areas;
- PNRR M2C2-I3.1 ROVERETO, presented by Dolomiti Energia Holding spa, which was granted a contribution of €5,506,500 for work to be carried out in the Rovereto area;
- GREEN HYDROGEN PRODUCTION PLANT AT THE CARTIERE DEL GARDA FACILITY, presented by Cartiere del Garda spa, which was granted a contribution of € 993,768.39 for an intervention in the Riva del Garda area. The company subsequently communicated that it renounced the granted contribution.
Goals
Supporting the local production and use of green hydrogen by creating new districts (hydrogenvalleys), where hydrogen is produced from renewable sources in the area and used locally, and promoting the reuse of brownfield sites.
