Health, the environment, biodiversity and climate – SNPS-SNPA

The project is funded by the National Plan for Complementary Investments (PNC) under Programme E.1 ‘Health, Environment, Biodiversity and Climate’, Measure 1) “comprehensive strengthening of SNPS-SNPA structures and services at national, regional and local levels, by improving infrastructure, human and technological capacity, and applied research;”

The project for thecomprehensive strengthening of SNPS-SNPA structures and services at national, regional and local levels, by improving infrastructure, human and technological capacities, and applied research islinked to the establishment of the National System for the Prevention of Health Risks from Environmental and Climate Hazards (SNPS), in line with the integrated ‘One Health’ approach and the ‘Planetary Health’ vision, in order to effectively address historical and emerging health risks arising from environmental and climate change.

To strengthen the country’s capacity, effectiveness, resilience and equity in addressing present and future health impacts, associated with environmental and climate risks, a series of synergistic investments have therefore been defined, including the comprehensive strengthening of SNPS-SNPA structures and services at national, regional and local levels, by improving infrastructure, human and technological capacities, and applied research.

To implement policies for the prevention, control and treatment of acute and chronic, communicable and non-communicable diseases that are directly or indirectly linked to environmental and climatic factors.

The Italian National Institute of Health, in its capacity as the implementing body, has entrusted the Autonomous Province of Trento (the executing body) with the implementation of the measures specifically set out in the Operational Agreement and the related Supplementary Act.
For the execution of these measures, the Province is relying onthe Integrated University Health Authority of Trentino (Asuit).

The implementation of the PNRR in Trentino forms an integral part of the provincial policy framework for sustainable development, in line with the policies set out in the Provincial Economic and Financial Document and the related Update Note.

PNC funding: €1,928,770.00

In 2023, an Operational Agreement was signed with the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Health, and subsequently updated in June 2024 (Resolutions No. 333 of 24 February 2023 and No. 873 of 17 June 2024).

The purchase of equipment for the hygiene laboratory in Trento has been completed.
