Special Area of Conservation (SAC)

Granite massif of western Trentino with glaciers and large moraine deposits, small alpine lakes, vast debris accumulations. To the east, the slopes of the massif become less and less steep, so there are peat bogs and patches of coniferous forests on peat.
The vegetation consists of broad-leaved forests (beech forests) and coniferous forests (spruce and larch, with cores of stone pine). Above the forest line, alpine pastures and subalpine heaths are widespread everywhere.
