Description
A relict of a marshy, riparian environment on the valley floor, which has become extremely rare throughout the province.
It is a vitally important biotope for the reproduction of many species of amphibians and reptiles.
The site is also of great importance for the nesting, resting and/or wintering of bird species that are protected or in strong decline, and/or have a localised distribution in the Alps.
Presence of Annex II invertebrates indicating good naturalness of running waters.
Habitats of special interest not included in Annex I of Directive 92/43/EEC are present, in particular Alnetea glutinosae (5%), Magnocaricion (5%).
