Special Area of Conservation (SAC)

The area, located in the south-western pre-Alpine belt of Trentino, comprises two vast glacial cirques with larch and green alder formations.
In the flat areas at the bottom of the cirques and on the slopes there are numerous low fens with Cyperaceae and a small lake bordered by a band of magnocariceti.
There are particularly interesting habitats of both limestone and volcanic matrices in the Alpine environment. Widespread to the west, near the provincial boundary, is the sparse larch woodland with wide grasslands interrupted by rocky walls.
