Monte Zugna

Special Area of Conservation (SAC)

The site covers the western slope of Monte Zugna, largely occupied by the outcrop of sloping limestone pavements and ancient landslides (marocche), only partly colonised by vegetation. Towards the north, the relatively autonomous relief of Monte Cengialto is also included, covered by thermophilous woods and relict arid meadows.

Description

The evocative and wild landscape, together with the presence of some rare species (mainly related to dry meadows), represent the most valuable elements of the site.
The site is of relevant national and/or provincial interest for the presence and reproduction of endangered animal species, important glacial relicts, exclusive and/or typical of the Alps.
Historical presence of invertebrates linked to the very natural conditions of beech forests.
Priority habitat 6210 (wonderful orchid blooms) with 4.21% coverage of the Site.
