Description
The marocche are landslide deposits of great interest both from a geomorphological point of view and from that of their vegetal 'conquest'.
The unmistakable landscape of the marocche is colonised by dwarf pine (Pinus mugo) in the area of malga Flavona and by pecceta mixed with larch (Larix decidua) in that of malga Pozzol.
The environment of these accumulations is made up of chaotic surfaces with rises, ridges and depressions, within which different stationary conditions are determined. Trees themselves seem to play an important role among the pioneer species, creating microenvironmental situations occupied by other types of vegetation. Interesting in this respect is the presence of small 'islands' of acidophilic vegetation among the mugho trees, independent of the substrate (limestone) in relation to the acidifying effect of the pine leaves themselves.
The biotope is characterised not only by the environment offered by the maroquesas, but also by the important floristic presences found in the various habitats that constitute it: from pasture areas to the karst phenomena of Flavona, from spring and stream environments to peaty meadows, from rocky hollows to scree vegetation.
No less important is the presence of fauna, including the brown bear (Ursus arctos) and the golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), testifying to the integrity of the environment and the need to safeguard it.
