The President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, spoke yesterday during the meeting of the Council of Local Authorities (Cal) to illustrate the 'Bike lane 2025 Project'. Also present for the occasion were the top management of the Italian Cycling Federation-Trentino Committee, with its president, Renato Beber, and vice-president, Enrico D'Aquilio. Fugatti, who took the opportunity to renew his best wishes for good work to the newly-elected administrators, specified, going into the merits of the initiative, that the plans to start experimenting with the first 'Bike-lanes' have been approved in recent days. "We are presenting to the mayors," he said, "the two experiments we are carrying out on Trentino roads to make them safe for cyclists, after the serious events that have occurred in recent months involving young athletes. Together with the Federazione Ciclistica Trentina (Trentine Cycling Federation), we have set up an experiment involving some stretches of road: the section that goes up towards Fai della Paganella and the section that concerns the Alta Val di Cembra. We also need a cultural vision to ensure the safety of our young people who practice cycling and indiscriminately all those who use our roads'.
