Mattia Furlani, the boy who makes athletics fly

At 19, the long distance world champion brings to the stage the freshness of a natural talent and the confidence of someone who already knows how to handle the limelight. Mattia Furlani is the gold that lights up the Trento Sports Festival. Charisma, spontaneity and a disarming smile: the boy from Grottaferrata is the new face of Italian athletics, the one capable of making even those who remain with their feet firmly planted on the ground dream. At the Auditorium, the Superman soundtrack starts to welcome him. "I have watched my jump so many times, I would say that all the reproductions on YouTube are mine," he laughs.
"Where did I come from? From holidays: I've been to Mauritius. Now, with the team, we are starting to organise the work, we will do it respecting my biological growth. I have never yet faced preparation as an adult, as an already formed physique. I am happy to have invested in myself, in preparation, in prevention. Many guys who want to excel in athletics don't go about it with that in mind. You have to seek the result, want it. Take a monster like Duplantis: every year he does better, because he is healthy, intact. In Tokyo I did the perfect jump, I gave everything and I set myself the goal of winning at least one medal. My brother always says that the best jump is the fifth. I remained calm even after the first, I knew I was OK. I knew that if I got the right one right, there would be nothing for anyone.

The kamikaze pilot. Kevin Schwantz: gas, madness and a smile

"If the theme of the 2025 edition of the Trento Sports Festival is adrenaline, pure adrenaline. If adrenalin is the travelling companion of all the champions present and not present. If anyone has lived on adrenalin, entering the imagination and still managing to remain very much present, not only because he won but because he did it, in his own way, this is Kevin Schwantz". This is how Furio Zara introduced him, calling him on stage at the Teatro Sociale. The World Champion and tightrope walker. Gas and madness. Stars and stripes Suzuki blood. Without knowing fear. Until fear told him to stop. "After the accident of my long-time rival Wayne Rainey, there was no point in continuing."

Craft and Professional Master Training: Criteria Changed

At the proposal of the councillor for craftsmanship, trade, tourism, forestry, hunting and fishing, Roberto Failoni, the Provincial Council approved a measure to modify the criteria for awarding the titles of Master Craftsman and Professional Master. From now on, it will be possible to implement training courses that envisage areas or modules to be carried out jointly for several professional profiles.
'In these six years of legislature we have done a great job in making the figure of the Master Craftsman and Professional Master grow and become known, communicating to all the people of Trento what they must and will have to do to become one. It is a high quality training course, which requires commitment and sacrifice, but allows for all-round growth, acquiring professionalism and many opportunities,' said Councillor Failoni, who on the measure adopted specified: 'To date, the training courses for Master Craftsmen and Professional Masters are planned and implemented separately for each professional profile. Also in order to optimise resources, with this amendment we are allowing training providers to jointly carry out training for a specific area or module for several profiles. Particularly when the number of participants for the individual profiles is lower than the minimum number of participants for the activation of the course or for areas with a transversal character, common to the various paths".

Tomba's timeless charm: when sport becomes spectacle

When two sports legends meet, there can only be sparks. After all, one of the two is Tomba 'La Bomba', undisciplined and unconventional, an irrepressible river of anecdotes and jokes. From Calgary to Sierra Nevada, via the Topolino trophy on the Bondone and the San Siro Montagnetta, Alberto Tomba took an enthusiastic audience in the Santa Chiara auditorium at the Trento Sports Festival on a journey back in time. There are those who talk about sport, and those who are sport. Alberto Tomba belongs to the second category. When he is on stage, the atmosphere changes: just a joke, a gesture, a smile and the audience is his. The interview with Antonio Rossi, a friend of a thousand adventures and an Olympic champion like himself, becomes a photographic journey inside the legend, amidst epic moments, irresistible anecdotes and an energy that has not missed a beat.

    Michael Cooper: My amazing Lakers

In the 1980s, the rivalry between Michael Cooper, defenceman for the Los Angeles Lakers, and Larry Bird, basketball player for the Boston Celtics, took the spotlight also because of the great esteem and respect the two players showed on the basketball court. That very Michael Cooper, enveloped by the audience of the Teatro Sociale at the Trento Sports Festival, recalled the historic rivalry with Bird and retraced the twelve seasons in the yellow and purple jersey, with five rings won, that turned him into an NBA legend.

The astonishing beastly talent of Enea Bastianini. Between tyre management and grid positions

A beastly talent. But for MotoGP you also need a beastly physique. And Enea Bastianini with his 23 and the Red Bull KTM Tech3 has it. Talented and physical, that is. As well as that nickname, Beast, which he rightfully wears. As well as well printed on his suit. A nickname that he has worn since his minimoto years and that yes, he likes. Not as much as that Pilotuffo that he was given during the period in which he had flanked engines with water and the discipline of diving. But the surprises, with the Beast, do not end there. At the Trento Sports Festival, in a packed Sala della Filarmonica and in dialogue with Mario Salvini, an unsuspected Aeneas emerged.

Two great champions of a cycling past that cycling fans remember and in many cases regret. Keeping the memory of the exploits of several decades ago alive were Francesco Moser and Giovanni Battaglin, who at the Trento Sports Festival made the public relive not only their exploits, but also those of other great champions such as Merckx, Hinault, Gimondi, Fuente, Saronni and Baronchelli, to name but a few.

Andrè and Zandalasini: Andrea Capobianco's basketball girls for a bronze that is worth gold

Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Antonino Morici interviews Olbis Andrè, Cecilia Zandalasini and Andrea Capobianco, players and coach of the women's national basketball team, bronze medallists at the 2025 European Championships, at the Trento Sports Festival. Last June, basketball's Italy wrote a page of history, overcoming France 69-54 in the final for third place played in Piraeus, Greece.
Leading this historic victory that had been missing for a good 30 years, since 1995, when Italy last stood on the podium with the silver medal, was Andrea Capobianco, who was awarded the tournament's best coach. The Italian coach was able to build a united and determined group, capable of redeeming themselves after the semifinal defeat against Belgium and conquering an extraordinary result, whose protagonist was, without a doubt, Cecilia Zandalasini. For the Azzurri captain, it was the second inclusion in the best European quintet with her 16.8 point average and 48% from three, confirming a talent now recognised at international level. Cecilia achieved two goals: a bronze medal around her neck and 1000 points in the national team, scoring 20 in the decisive match against the French.
At Eurobasket 2025, Italian women's basketball took the throne of Europe with a bronze medal worth gold. Since Italy has been coached by Andrea Capobianco and his staff, the team has been transformed. Alongside players considered generational talents, such as the 29-year-old Cecilia, others have matured who have gradually been able to take on more and more responsibility, such as Olbis André and her hard work under the basket.

Captain, champion, coach: the second life of Patrick Vieira

The most beautiful moment was raising the Cup in the 98 World Cup at home. For the sporting significance, but above all for the powerful message that that victory represented for the whole country: France is multi-ethnic and this diversity is an asset. Patrick Viera arrives at the Trento Sports Festival as an accomplished man - world champion, Arsenal legend, new generation coach - to tell a story that is not just about trophies, but about values. On the stage of the Santa Chiara Auditorium, he speaks with the calm and elegance of one who has already experienced so much, on and around the pitch. 'I prefer to speak as a coach,' he admits, but the tale begins with his first steps on the pitch. Also in the audience was the president of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti.

Skating and curling: from niche sports to highly anticipated Olympic disciplines

It is the Milan-Cortina 2026 effect. It is the effect of the Winter Olympics in general. Less popular sports, such as speed and figure skating, and curling, suddenly and for a while, draw the spotlight. And what effect does it have? Three champions recount it at the Trento Sports Festival: Davide Ghiotto, Daniel Grassl and Mattia Giovannella. 'You feel responsibility and pressure, and you work harder than usual to give good results,' they say, knowing however also that a home Olympics will be 'a great emotion, something unique, in which the public's cheering will be warm and will invade us'.

The great Franz Klammer, the emblem of courage

Franz Klammer perfectly embodies the title of the 2025 edition of the Trento Sports Festival: 'pure adrenaline'. The Austrian star from Carinthia, considered the best downhill skier of all time, told the Philharmonic Hall about his extraordinary successes, but also what skiing was like in the 1970s, on undulating and extremely vertical slopes, with speeds exceeding 130 kilometres per hour, with very long and narrow tools that required extraordinary balance, and even with aerodynamic ski suits like the plastic ones that had been introduced by FIS for two years. If you slipped on the snow, you would not stop.
