Kelly Doualla, the young 'child of the wind'

An emerging talent in athletics, Kelly Doualla is a young Italian sprinter, born in Pavia in 2009 to parents from Cameroon, with whom she lives in Sant'Angelo Lodigiano. A gold medallist in the 100 metres at the European Under-20 Championships in Tampere, Finland, in 2025, she became the youngest ever winner over the distance, entering the history of European athletics at just 15 years and 261 days old. Thus came the definitive consecration: Kelly Doualla is now considered one of the most promising Italian sprinters. On her debut in blue at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2025, she set a new European U18 record in the 100 metres, rewriting the best youth times in Italy. The best performances in the category, both U18 and U20, at national level were already hers before that 11.21 with which she took the continental record. "I knew I could do well but I could do better," said the speedy champion at the Trento Sports Festival, in a talk entitled "The daughter of the wind", an honorary reference to the legend Carl Lewis, in a pressing but fresh and at times hilarious dialogue with Chiara Soldi, a journalist from the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Mario Andretti. A Cadillac and a new challenge for a four-wheeled legend

Daniele Dallera, a long career in journalism, but with so much palpable emotion for the exceptional nature of the evening, presents him as follows: 'A myth, a legend, I won't spend too many words so as not to steal time from an extraordinary man: this is Mario Andretti. Cadillac Man. Welcomed by the Trento Sports Festival audience in the Sala della Filarmonica with a standing ovation. The kind that a four-wheeled champion like him deserves. He has a US passport but, according to him, 'blood doesn't lie. And every time I come to my Italy,' he says, 'where I was born and raised, it is an incredible emotion'.

Larissa Iapichino: transforming disappointments into energy to face the future

React, turn despondency into energy to become even stronger and face the future head-on. The recipe of Larissa Iapichino, long jumper of the Italian national team, is simple on paper, but to write it, the 23-year-old Florentine had to go through two big disappointments first at the 2025 Olympics and then at the World Championships last September. A fourth place and an elimination in the preliminaries that hurt a lot, but that did not spoil an otherwise very good season that saw Larissa win the European Indoor Championships and the Diamond League for the second time and, finally, exceed seven metres (7.06) for the first time in her career.

Kolo Touré and the Arsenal of the invincibles: 'Strong because we were like brothers on the pitch'

From the pitch to the player management control room: the Trento Sports Festival hosted Kolo Touré, a pillar of the 'invincible' defences in the Premier League, and Maheta Molango, a lawyer and CEO who represents the collective voice of footballers today. One has experienced football from the pitch, the other works behind the scenes to transform it: together they embody the present - and the future - of power in football. Touré, former Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool, twice African champion with the Ivory Coast, brought charisma and tactical rigour to the pitch. Molango, Swiss-Congolese, former striker and now chief executive of the PFA (Professional Footballers' Association), is the new figurehead of the English footballers' union, between rights, ethics and the future of the game.

Federica Pellegrini, Matteo Giunta and the new 'out-of-the-water' challenges

From athletes to lovers, from spouses to parents, coaching the younger generation and raising little Matilde. New challenges, many outside the pools, for Federica Pellegrini and Matteo Giunta. Fates crossed thanks to sport and the extraordinary career of Federica, 'La Divina'. In terms of results, it is inevitable to summarise, drawing on the motivations that have opened wide the doors of the Swimming Hall of Fame to her: the only one among men and women to have won eight medals in a row in the same speciality, the 200 metre freestyle, at the World Championships; the first Italian Olympic swimming champion and the only Italian swimmer to have set several world records in more than one event. First female swimmer to qualify for five consecutive Olympic finals in the same event, the 200 m freestyle.

Var: a tool for referees or technology that will replace them forever?

Var is the protagonist of the discussion between Roberto Rossetti, president of the Uefa Referee Commission, Maurizio Compagnoni, commentator, and former football star Luca Marchegiani at the Trento Sports Festival. A controversial topic that still arouses continuous 'controversy', the Video Assistant Referee, does it objectively fill the all-too-human gaps of referees or assist them in their work? The three Festival guests have no doubts: despite its complexities and necessary improvements, 'var is a useful tool for football and for referees.

Cerasuolo and Martinenghi: a golden breaststroke

The breaststroke speciality in Italy is experiencing a moment of particular splendour, studded with significant international successes. Today, in the Sala della Filarmonica for the Trento Sports Festival, the two top Italian breaststrokers, who cannot even remember that first Sydney medal, young as they are, recounted their latest triumphs: Simone Cerasuolo, 22, fresh world champion in the 50-metre breaststroke in Singapore 2025, and Nicolò Martinenghi, 26, Olympic champion in the 100-metre breaststroke in Paris 2024 and world champion in Budapest 2022.

    Sport according to Mauro Corona

A necessary effort to deserve the right rest. This, in a nutshell, is Mauro Corona's thought on sport, speaking in the talk 'Sport as a source of tranquillity'. In a Piazza Duomo that was struggling to contain the large audience that had flocked there, clutching a cigar between their fingers, wearing a bandana and technical clothing, Corona soon captured the attention with amusing stories and anecdotes. Beginning with his initial apology for his hoarse voice, 'yesterday I played morra and I have no voice, but I beat my brother', or his lack of propensity for sport: 'To be a winner in any sport,' he admitted, 'you have to start very early and dedicate yourself body and soul. To the idea of spending 20 years of sacrifice to enter sports history, I preferred the geography of taverns'.

He moved from his present and past with the Rossoneri colours, now also illuminated by Modric and Leao, to his memories of coaches such as Pioli, Mourinho and Capello, and his role as a father with two young footballing sons. Ibra also praised the new national team coach Rino Gattuso, saying that Italy should always be present at major football events such as the World Cup and Europeans.
