"May Holocaust Memorial Day, which commemorates the victims of the Holocaust and recalls the liberation of the Auschwitz camp, be an occasion to reinforce in our community and the wider national and international community the values of peace and peaceful social coexistence. Thinking back to the tragic events that led to the internment and extermination of millions of people in the concentration camps may be a stimulus to look to the future with greater responsibility and I would even say with greater confidence, thanks to the now consolidated peaceful alliance between those same peoples who then faced each other in war. The difficulties of the present can be tackled by finding shared solutions, with respect for everyone'. This is how President Maurizio Fugatti commented on the 27 January anniversary, adding that 'The Autonomous Province of Trento wanted to support many initiatives of associations, organisations and libraries, which in these days and also in the coming weeks will continue to present their proposals to the public, because culture and democratic debate are the main tools to ward off the darkness of violence and marginalisation'.
