Bad weather: first evacuees already ordered to return home

The first assessments have allowed the Autonomous Province of Trento's civil protection technicians to order the return home of the first evacuees, who had been removed from their homes as a precautionary measure. There are more than forty people, almost the entire group that had been evacuated in the Pera di Fassa area due to an unstable boulder. Assessments by geologists and inspections conducted also with the fire brigade's drones have defined the situation in greater detail, and only the few residents (five people) of one dwelling have been evacuated.
No people were evacuated in Campitello di Fassa and Mazzin, where roads and garages are being cleared. In Vigo di Fassa about twenty people are waiting for the go-ahead to return home. The largest group - at least 150 people - is instead coming from a couple of hotels and some houses in the Pozza di Fassa area where, on the orographic right, there are several points where ground subsidence has occurred
Overall, however, the situation now appears calm, it has stopped raining and - after the appropriate measures have been taken to ensure the safety of people - monitoring with drones and cleaning operations are continuing.
On the traffic situation front, work is in progress to allow the reopening of the state road at Mazzin di Fassa and Fontanazzo. Traffic is being diverted using a short section of the bicycle path.

Bad weather: up to 108 millimetres of rain in Pozza di Fassa

The inspections of the provincial civil protection technicians continue. In agreement with the administrations of the four municipalities most affected by this evening's phenomenon, they have monitored the most critical situations and are planning the accommodation activities that will start tomorrow morning.
In Mazzin di Fassa, the state road had to be closed due to flooding of the neighbouring watercourses, and the road to Gardeccia also reported some subsidence. No particular problems in Moena with the exception of a building site of the Province on which it was decided to intervene tomorrow
The rainfall in Val di Fassa started around 5 p.m., beginning in the basin of the Udai stream. The peaks of greatest intensity were recorded between 6.30 and 7.30 p.m. with a maximum of 108 mm at Monzon di Pozza di Fassa (Meteonetwork station). At the other weather stations, 61 mm of rain was measured at Campitello Avisio and much less significant values at the other monitoring stations.

Bad weather: civil protection in action in Val di Fassa

The weather alert announced the possibility of violent disturbances later in the day, which has occurred in the Val di Fassa where the activities of the civil protection, in particular the fire brigade, foresters, mountain basins and geologists sectors, together with the technicians of the road management service, are underway. A series of situations are under observation, in particular the swelling of some watercourses that have caused landslides and bank erosion. As a matter of caution, the evacuation of some houses in the area of Pera di Fassa, in Vigo di Fassa (about ten houses) and in Pozza di Fassa where guests and staff of two hotels have been moved.
The situation is evolving.
At the moment, there are no reports that the phenomena have caused consequences for people.
