With reference to the statements made to the press by some trade unions of medical executives, Health Councillor Stefania Segnana intends to clarify some aspects that are the subject of the claims.
"It appears difficult to understand the request to reopen a negotiation that is now closed for the three-year period 2016-2018, which has already brought pay adjustments for the other categories of healthcare and public employment into line," said Councillor Segnana . "At the right time they had not been made at all, and now the requests risk not only creating unjustified difficulties for the system - which is already facing a difficult period - but also preventing the funds already allocated for the three-year period 2019-2021 from being paid out. Not only the Province, but also Apran had already said it was willing to pay both the 2021 arrears and the contractual holiday, and also the one-off payment linked to the pandemic period for medical executives, for a total of more than EUR 21 million out of a total of EUR 40 million for the entire sector. It is therefore difficult to understand the position of some unions calling on doctors to go on strike. It is also regrettable to note that for some categories there are not enough resources that other health workers have widely accepted and agreed upon for 2016-2018, and that there is no openness on regulatory agreements for 2019-2021, with logics that risk causing economic damage to the same stakeholders'. "With regard then to alleged closures towards dialogue, it must be reiterated that the Council has never shied away from confrontation and indeed the commitment has always been towards the full recognition of the work of doctors and towards the optimisation of organisational and management aspects," the councillor went on to say.
