The meteorological winter (December 2022, January and February 2023) was drier and much warmer than average. Precipitation was average for December and January, but with February being completely dry, the cumulative precipitation for the winter was below average but still higher than last winter. Temperatures were almost always above average, with the exception of a few periods, especially in December, so that in Trento Laste the 2022 - 2023 meteorological winter was the third warmest since 1921, beaten only by 2006 - 2007 and 2019 - 2020.
The particularly mild period of the first few days of 2023 stands out: New Year's Eve in Trento Laste was the mildest since 1921, while the highest daily minimum in January 2023 (7.2 °C) was second only to that of January 1974 (8 °C).
