"This is wonderful news, which gives confidence and hope. Not just an athlete wins, but the will to live with others in mind'. These were the words of the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, Councillor Stefania Segnana and their colleagues in the council, commenting on the news from Perth, Australia, where Stefano Dalvai, born in 1988, from Borgo Valsugana, won world gold at the World Transplant Games.
Dalvai, who received a bone marrow transplant nine years ago, began his work to raise awareness of the importance of organ, blood and tissue donation by participating in marathons and trail running races. Now a success that rewards his great commitment and has led him to win the first Italian gold medal at the Games, and first gold on the road race in the colours of Italy
