The Autonomous Province of Trento will be the first in Italy to test some use cases of the European Digital Identity Wallet: a system that will allow citizens, residents and businesses in the Union to certify their identity in complete security, without the need to provide copies, photocopies, stamped papers or other bureaucracy in order to access public and private services in all Member States. The test will thus implement, at national level, one of the projects of the POTENTIAL Consortium, which is among the large-scale pilots selected by the European Commission to make concrete the first applications of the European Digital Identity Wallet. The initiative involves not only the Autonomous Province of Trento, but also PagoPA S.p.A (in the role of wallet provider) together with the Department for Digital Transformation (DTD), the Fondazione Bruno Kessler and the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato (IPZS). The announcement of the experimentation of the digital wallet in Trentino arrived during the panel "The European wallet: a strategic choice for Italy", organised by the Fondazione Hub Innovazione Trentino (HIT) at the Fondazione Caritro on the occasion of the 18th edition of the Trento Festival of Economics.
