From Thursday 16 to Saturday 18 November 2023, the ninth edition of the Festival dedicated to the science that studies weather and climate will take place. Themes include communication, education and the profession in meteorology. The complete programme can be viewed online at www.festivalmeteorologia.it.
How to communicate effectively in meteorology? How to convey weather forecasts to the general public without alarmism or trivialisation? How to translate rather complex technical-scientific concepts into messages that can be understood by everyone? And how can such information influence and, at the same time, determine choices and strategies in the economic sphere and in everyday life? The Festivalmeteorologia, which from Thursday 16 to Saturday 18 November 2023 celebrates its ninth edition in Rovereto, in the province of Trento, places the emphasis on a theme that is becoming more and more topical as climate change becomes more evident and atmospheric phenomena become more extreme and frequent. And the chronicles of recent years, and in particular of these weeks, are a glaring illustration of this. The sometimes dramatic effects of climate change are highlighting, on the one hand, the importance of being able to rely on increasingly accurate, reliable and precise weather forecasts and, on the other, highlighting the need for territories to devise defence and adaptation measures.
