"The ideas of economists and political philosophers, both the right and the wrong ones, are more powerful than is commonly believed. In fact, the world is governed by few things outside them". It is in the quotation of John Maynard Keynes' words that the sense of "The Power of Ideas" is summed up, an event organised today by the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Trento in the Aula Azzurra of the via Inama campus to retrace memories and take stock of the first fifty years since the foundation of the then Faculty of Economics and Business.
Achille Spinelli, Vice-President of the Province and Councillor for Universities and Research, who was a student at the Faculty, also brought his greetings: "This is an academic 'community' that grows richer every year and of which I am honoured to be a part, having graduated right here in 1999. A great resource for the area. Economics is an increasingly central subject on all levels of decision-making, whether it concerns governments, the business world, schools and families. This is also where we start to become fully protagonists of our present and future. The Autonomous Province stands by the University in all projects of growth and consolidation'.
