While in various towns in Trentino the feast of Saint Barbara is being celebrated, with the fire brigade returning from the latest calls to report on the damage caused by the disturbance of the last few hours, the Civil Protection Department of the Province is analysing the data at the end of the yellow alert.
On average, between 60 and 120 millimetres of rain have fallen over the last few days, although in some places the values are decidedly higher, such as at Malga Bissina where the maximum of 220 millimetres was reached.
The snow quota during the most intense phase, which occurred during the night between Friday and Saturday, was on average over 2300 -2500 metres, turning out to be lower, locally below 1300 metres, but with rather scarce quantities, only at the end of the event in the central hours of Saturday.
Until yesterday morning, the winds blew strongly from the southwest quadrants in the mountains, where gusts in excess of 100 km/h were measured at the highest altitudes. On Saturday, the winds turned from the north and strengthened also in the valley where foehn episodes occurred with maximum gusts of 87 km/h measured at Cembra.
Temperatures this morning dropped more than 15 °C in the mountains while in the valleys where the foehn wind was blowing, temperatures remained higher. The lows this morning at 3000 m were around -18 °C, -10 °C at 2000 m, -7 °C at 1000 m, close to zero degrees at low altitudes.
The forecast now indicates fine weather and cold until tomorrow afternoon evening, while a new weak disturbance is expected between Monday evening and Tuesday evening with light to moderate snowfall especially in the central and southern sectors.
