From 00.00 a.m. on Monday to 4.45 p.m. today, Wednesday, an average of 50 - 100 mm of precipitation fell in Trentino, with the absolute maximum of 172 mm at Pian delle Fugazze (data from the Forecast and Planning Office), while snow fell abundantly at high altitudes. The thickness of the snowpack at altitudes above 1700 m, measured this morning in the snow fields (manual nivometer stations), was over a metre and a half almost everywhere with the maximum of 203 cm at Malga Bissina (1790 m asl). The amount of snow at altitude is well above average, which has not happened since the winter of 2020 - 2021.
As far as the forecast is concerned, after a partial and temporary improvement with at most weak and intermittent rainfall until tomorrow evening, from Friday Trentino will again be affected by unstable and gradually more intense flows. On Friday, widespread weak to moderate rainfall is expected with average accumulations of 10 - 30 mm and the same number of centimetres of snow above about 1700 m. On Saturday, weak to moderate precipitation is not excluded. Widespread precipitation is probable between Sunday and Monday, which could be heavy, with snow levels falling to around 1300 m or locally to lower altitudes.
Road cleaning, treatment and widening operations continue by the Road Management Service, assisted in certain sections by private companies.
We would like to remind you that from 15 November it has been compulsory to travel with snow tyres or chains on board during snowfall. We recommend moderating speed and driving with particular caution, due to the presence of slippery stretches of road, snow removal vehicles and snow cutters in action on the higher roads.
Below is the situation of the provincial road network updated at 16:15.
