Charlie's Angels' and that finale that involved them all, for better or worse

From the most medallist in the history of Paralympic athletics to the youngster who has just started (winning), via the self-described 'Olympic bronze medallist'. And for that final in Paris that saw all three of them 'in the front line' for dozens of metres, but not at the finish line.
In order, Caironi, Sabatini and Contrafatto, who, guided by the Italian face of Paralympic sports journalism, Claudio Arrigoni, opened up on Paris with the audience that could not have asked for more from a top event of the Sports Festival.

Walter Veltroni, the poetic quintessence of football in the fantasy of number 10

The number 10 shirt is the most iconic in football, the quintessence of football as poetry and a way of telling the story of a unique sport. To 'Numeri 10', the title of the book published by Solferino and presented this morning in Piazza Duomo at the Festival dello Sport, Walter Veltroni has dedicated pages in which he wants to recover precisely the poetic dimension of football. Veltroni, interviewed by Gazzetta journalist Mimmo Cugini, immediately declared himself to be a man of the 20th century, emphasising how the number tens belong more to that season than to the current one where there are numbers 99, 112 and 46 and everything is personalised. Even this change speaks of the spirit of the times: the player chooses the number and the name on the shirt, whereas back then it was the role that made the number. In this apparently formal difference, for Veltroni there is the transformation of football into an industry that is, however, based on emotions and if you lose the emotion, the poetry, the identity, the imagination, the talent that marked the football of the legendary number 10s told through a series of interviews.

A jump in Trento for Olympic bronze medallist Andy Diaz

'In Cuba they told me I didn't have the talent, that I was poor and I ended up in electrician school,' Diaz began. When Andy left the Caribbean island for Italy in 2021, all he had with him was a pair of athletic shoes and the determination to train with former Olympian Fabrizio Donato to keep his jumps at a high level.
And so it was that Fabrizio, moved by the values of sport and thanks to the support of his wife, welcomed him into his home once he was granted political asylum, giving way to what he said was an unrepeatable human journey that saw a series of circumstances aligning beyond athletics. Fabrizio and his wife Patrizia, parents of two daughters, thus added the 'missing son' to their family and were able to nurture Andy's talent with ad hoc training programmes.

Sir Susa Vim Perugia: climbing the ladder to success

Rachele Sangiuliano, former volleyball player, talks to the players of Sir Safety Perugia Volleyball, winners of the Scudetto, the World Club Championship, the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup 2024: Massimo Colaci, Simone Giannelli, Yuki Ishikawa, Oleh Plotnytsky, Roberto Russo, accompanied by coach Angelo Lorenzetti and president Gino Sirci. Since 2017, one team has been shining among the stars of Italian men's volleyball: it is Sir Susa Vim Perugia, a club that, starting twenty-three years ago from the C series, has climbed the ranks and the hierarchies until reaching a perfect season, 2023-24, which led it to victory in the four most important events in international volleyball: the Supercup, the World Cup for clubs in India, the Italian Cup and the Scudetto.
In eight seasons, its palmares features 14 titles: 2 Scudettos, 4 Italian Cups, 6 Super Cups and 2 Club World Cups. At the helm, a charismatic coach like Angelo Lorenzetti, capable of 'turning everything he touches into gold', as the people of Trento know well. Let us remember that there are four cities where Lorenzetti has led the team to win the tricolour: besides Trento, Modena, Piacenza and Perugia.
Sir Susa Vim Perugia's great journey towards success started from a 'black' season, that of 2022-2023, when the team missed all the most important appointments, such as the Coppa Italia, the Champions League and the Scudetto, even being excluded from the next edition of the European Cup. Then the rise to the stars, thanks to 'born to win' players like Massimo Colaci, Simone Giannelli, Yuki Ishikawa, Oleh Plotnytsky and Roberto Russo.

Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini, the Bianconeri wall

Together they have won seven championships with the Juventus jersey, entering football legends as the BBC, one of the most impenetrable defences ever. Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini arrived in Trento today to tell the Festival dello Sport audience their incredible story. It was Antonio Conte, in the 2011/2012 season, who proposed an unprecedented three-man defence with Barzagli on the right, Bonucci in the centre and Chiellini on the left. And it was Antonio Conte, now Napoli coach, who opened the evening with a video message, recounting the birth of the BBC. "For the entire preparation we had tried the 4-4-2, with Bonucci remaining on the bench. I adapted to exploit the best characteristics of my players. I didn't want to sacrifice anyone's ability. Leo, Giorgio and Andrea,' he added, 'complemented each other. It was an honour to coach them, they are great players and great men'.

Pendolino Cafu awarded as 'Legend of the Sports Festival'

The third day of the Trento Sports Festival welcomed 'pendolino' Cafu, the Brazilian football legend who in Italy first wore the Roma jersey and then the Milan red and black jersey, winning every trophy possible, to the Teatro Sociale. 'I always wanted to be a footballer, even when everyone told me it was impossible,' he explained. - My father and mother were fundamental, they always reminded me to 'run towards my yes', without allowing others to dream for me. With a simple word, it really is possible to change a person's life'. Lots of applause for real life lessons told by Cafu, who was born among other things on the day of Brazil-England 1970, in those World Cups that the Greenoros went on to win.
