"This important moment is an opportunity to confirm the commitment of this Council to work on health issues. I began my term as councillor by launching a listening operation with the hospitals and care facilities: I got a precise picture of the sector's needs and therefore also of the prospects for the years to come. The Autonomous Province of Trento intends to invest in its health system in order to continue to offer quality services throughout the territory, and I am convinced that it is always necessary to back up words with deeds, which is why I wanted to set aside the right resources for the adjustment and also for the next budget, which will go before the Chamber of Deputies in December, both because those who guarantee this work must be justly rewarded, and in order to meet the challenges of prevention, correct lifestyles, and longevity. I am certain that with knowledge of the problems, with continuous dialogue between all the actors in the system, with the will to find workable solutions, we will be able to provide the answers that citizens expect. The health and welfare system of a community is probably the first indicator of the quality of life. So the game that will be played in these years is fundamental for our future. Let us work together, this is my invitation to you, always putting people at the centre of our common commitment'. These were the words that Provincial Councillor for Health, Social Policies and Cooperation Mario Tonina addressed to the audience at the Teatro Sociale, which was hosting this afternoon's Day of the Doctor and Dentist 2024, an event organised by the Order of Surgeons and Dentists of the Province of Trento.
During the event, 41 professionals were presented with the Esculapio d'oro, an honour awarded to those who have reached 50 years of graduation this year, and 115 new members of the Order were welcomed, who took the solemn Hippocratic Oath, a constituent part of the code of medical ethics. "I address the young members, who have chosen with passion and a great sense of responsibility to exercise this profession, I wish you all the best in your work and to do it with the support of your colleagues who have 50 years of experience," Tonina said.
