Yesterday morning, a dog was attacked by three wolves in the municipal territory of Avio, in the locality of Vo' Sinistro. The episode happened a few dozen metres from the owners, who intervened to ward off the predators. The dog was immediately taken to a veterinary clinic to receive the necessary treatment. The episode brings the phenomenon of wolf presence in man-made areas back to the fore. The proximity between the wild animal and built-up areas raises legitimate concerns among citizens. "The provincial administration is fully aware of the situation and wants to reassure the community that every action required by law will be taken to guarantee the safety of the population and domestic animals," are the words of the provincial councillor for forests with responsibility for large carnivores, Roberto Failoni.
