The Provincial Council, at the proposal of President Maurizio Fugatti, has given the go-ahead for the adjustment of the retransmission service for the German-language channels ORF 1 and ORF Sport, in order to increase transmission power and ensure quality viewing of ORF channels throughout the province. This opportunity arose as a project linked to the broadcasting of the German language in territories bordering on Austria, which was implemented in South Tyrol and has developed decisively since the spring of this year.
In Trentino, the project of broadcasting German-language channels in the territory is linked in particular to the protection of minority languages, with reference to the German-speaking communities of Cimbrian and Moorish, but is of interest to the population in general.
Through negotiations and collaborative meetings with Ei Towers, the concessionaire company, it has now been possible to guarantee signal coverage also in Palù del Fersina (with the so-called Lenzi plant), one of the municipalities where the Moorish community resides, in an area previously excluded from reception.
In the next few weeks, the awarding of the service will therefore be finalised, and then the channels will be requested from the competent Ministry. The transmissions can be activated and visible in the first months of 2025.
