A day of reflection and sharing of experiences on initiatives, practices and opportunities to monitor and improve Age Management actions in the Province of Trento: this was the focus on which experts and academics debated today in the Sala Belli of the Province's headquarters building, which hosted the conference "Age Management and Active Ageing. Narratives and perspectives in Italy and in the Province of Trento'.
In her opening speech, the head of the UMSe territorial cohesion and enhancement of Trentino's social capital abroad, Ileana Olivo, emphasised: 'The topic is extremely important and composite, and the work of the provincial steering committee set up during the current legislature has now been incorporated into a general programme document of the Province. Since the first meetings of the Table, all participants have shown themselves to be extremely motivated, the composition is a cross-section of Trentino's institutional and civil society: everyone has a strong message to bring and tasks to accomplish. This meeting, among other things, marks the start of the Province's participation in a broader working project, that of the national multi-level participatory coordination of active ageing policies'.
Alfredo Ferrante, head of the Department for Family Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, then brought his greetings, with a video contribution. He thanked the organisers and conference participants, recalling the existence of a consolidated network of national stakeholders on active ageing, made up of 80 representatives from the public, private and civil society sectors.
At the end of the morning, Luciano Galetti, director of the PAT territorial cohesion office, illustrated the action of the provincial steering committee for age management and active ageing, which is responsible for developing strategies for the training of operators and trainers, exchanging experiences, networking, and activating experiments. The table is made up of representatives of Trade Associations, the Consortium of Municipalities, the Employment Agency, the Economic Development Department and other PAT Services, Apss, Trade Unions, the Municipalities of Trento and Rovereto, and UPIPA. 'The Province has activated specific initiatives in certain contexts, even original compared to the national framework. The fact that there is no provincial law on age management and active ageing reflects the desire to leave strong investment in these issues within the individual strands of intervention of the various policies, according to the different perspectives, leaving the functions of accompaniment, awareness-raising and, above all, liaison to a coordinating body such as the Table,' Galetti said.
