Self-determination allowance for women who are victims of violence

This is a financial allowance intended for women who are victims of violence and are being supported by the local social services.

Once the Social Services have confirmed that the woman is receiving support, they draw up a personalised support plan and determine the duration of the allowance.

The application is forwarded to the Provincial Agency for Social Assistance and Supplementary Social Security, which is responsible for awarding the allowance.

The monthly amount of the allowance is €530.00, reduced to €265.00 if the applicant is a resident of a residential social care facility that provides board and lodging.

If the allowance is granted for a period exceeding six months, at the end of the sixth month the local social services carry out a review to confirm whether the benefit should be continued or withdrawn for the subsequent months already identified

The allowance is granted for a minimum period of three months up to a maximum of twelve months, in accordance with the provisions of the personalised support plan.

The allowance is not renewable.

The applicant’s endorsement of the personalised action plan drawn up by the local social services.

 Women who are victims of violence and who meet the following criteria:

1. the applicant must be resident in the province of Trento at the time of application;
2. the applicant must be under the care of local social services, which draw up a personalised intervention plan;
3. the status of victim of violence must be confirmed by local social services, through verification of at least one of the following conditions:

• having filed a report or complaint regarding an incident falling within the scope of the criminal offences set out in Law No. 69 of 2019;
• having embarked on a programme to escape violence with one or more of the following organisations: a) local social services; b) a family planning clinic; c) the clinical psychology service of the local health authority; d) a third-sector organisation operating within the anti-violence services network.

Applications for the Self-Determination Allowance must be submitted to the local social services department in your place of residence (the municipalities of Trento and Rovereto; the valley communities).

The Social Services Department:

1. verifies the status of victim of violence;
2. draws up a personalised intervention plan;
3. specifies the duration of the allowance;
4. prepares and forwards the application to the Provincial Agency for Assistance and Supplementary Social Security, which is responsible for approving and paying the allowance.
