Description
The scheme aims to enhance the climate and environmental performance of agricultural holdings and to improve animal welfare on livestock farms. The scheme places particular emphasis on farm investments designed to facilitate the transition of livestock farms towards a more sustainable and ethical model, through the introduction of innovative and precision management systems that enhance animal welfare and biosecurity.
These objectives will be pursued by selecting the beneficiaries of this scheme (applicants operating in the dairy and beef livestock sectors) exclusively from among farms that have a link to the local area, as assessed by applying the UBA/ha parameter, which must be less than 2.5. These farms ensure the stewardship of both agricultural and non-agricultural areas; their presence and preservation are essential to preventing the abandonment of areas located in the most vulnerable zones.
The specific objectives of the scheme are:
a) to rationalise agricultural production processes in order to reduce emissions of climate-changing gases (methane and nitrous oxide) and other air pollutants (ammonia) and/or to increase the soil’s carbon sequestration capacity.
b) to encourage the evolution of livestock farming towards a more sustainable and ethical model, including through the introduction of innovative and precision management systems that enhance animal welfare and biosecurity, particularly with regard to antimicrobial resistance.
Within the scope of the specific objectives set out in intervention sheet SRD02, the following investment operations are eligible:
1. Livestock housing and production facilities;
2. Improvement of agricultural land;
3. Machinery (not fuelled by fossil fuels) and equipment;
4. Energy supply from renewable sources for farm needs.
Further information regarding eligibility criteria, eligible and ineligible expenditure, selection criteria and procedures for submitting aid applications is available in the text of the call for applications approved by Provincial Council Resolution No. 1855 of 28 November 2025.
