Reimbursement of expenses for adaptation of means of locomotion for disabled persons

The contribution is granted for

• use of the vehicle in the course of work
• use to reach the place of work or training
• other purposes.

A person with a disability who meets the requirements set out in the criteria approved by Resolution No. 672/2013 of the Provincial Council, subsequently amended by Resolution No. 391/2014, may apply for reimbursement in the following cases

• personally drives one of the vehicles with a special licence (e.g. motorbikes, cars, agricultural and operating machinery) or a vehicle for which a licence is not required
• is a passenger (with motorbikes and cars) if he/she is permanently unable to drive.

The disabled person (as driver or transported) must possess

• the health requirements declared by the competent health commissions
• residency in a municipality in the Autonomous Province of Trento for at least 3 years
• ICEF indicator of less than 0.70.

The application may be submitted by the user or by someone legally representing him/her (e.g. guardian, curator, support administrator, parent in the case of minors).

Please note that no expenses are allowed for the purchase of vehicles, but only for their adaptation.

The grant for vehicles already fitted as standard with an automatic gearbox or other servomechanism according to the person's permanent reduced mobility is calculated by taking as eligible expenditure the difference in cost between the normal version of the vehicle and the one adapted by the manufacturer.

The person concerned must first apply for the ICEF for his/her household at a Tax Assistance Centre (CAF).

The application can be submitted

• by contacting the operators by phone to fix an appointment, at the UMSE Disability and Social and Health Integration Office - Via Gilli 4 - 38121 Trento
• or at the peripheral offices of the PAT

• Copy of the vehicle registration certificate, if already registered at the time the application is submitted;
• Copy of the cost estimate for the adaptation of the vehicle or receipted invoices for the adaptation dated not earlier than 1 year from the date of submission of the application;
• Copy of the special driving licence or of the document temporarily replacing the special driving licence;
• Copy of the certification attesting to the disability condition, issued by the provincial health services agency;
• Declaration of consent, signed by the holder of the vehicle, if different from the disabled person, to make any necessary modifications to the adapted vehicle to transport the person permanently unable to drive.

Applications can be submitted from 1 April to 31 May each year.
