Description

The organic districts of provincial interest are integrated local production systems with an agricultural vocation, characterised by the significant presence of farms that follow organic production methods, the protection of typical local production, the integration between agricultural and other economic activities, the presence of landscape areas, environmental sustainability and the limited use of plant protection products.
Beginning with the role of organic operators, they have a pre-eminent function of a cultural nature and of stimulating and promoting sustainable development, and are set up to foster the development, valorisation and promotion of the production, processing and marketing processes of organic products, as well as information and communication activities concerning the organic sector, also collaborating with local cultural and research bodies; with the aim of stimulating a territorial approach to the conversion and maintenance of organic production and pursuing socio-economic development that is attentive to the conservation of natural and local resources. Furthermore, they aim to strengthen integration with other economic activities within the district and to promote and support the start-up and development of activities related to organic production, such as the serving of organic food in collective catering, the direct sale of organic products, agro-tourism activities, rural tourism, handicrafts and social agriculture
