Cooperation

Co-operation in Trentino was born in the valleys at the end of the 19th century, using solidarity as a tool to face difficult times. It immediately became a pillar of the Trentino economy and society and today counts more than 600 cooperative societies active in five economic sectors: credit, agriculture, consumption, production work and services, social and housing. With regard to cooperative societies, the Province performs two functions, which are provided for by the constitution. On the one hand it promotes the development of cooperation in its territory by granting targeted aid. On the other hand, it supervises the effective application of the cooperative principles, in order to ascertain the eligibility of cooperative societies to benefit from the concessions provided and, in addition, it verifies the economic-financial sustainability of the societies, adopting liquidation procedures where necessary.
