How to obtain provincial recognition for ski and snowboard schools.

Description

The Province recognises as 'ski schools' organisations made up, for the purpose of carrying out their activity in a coordinated manner, of several ski instructors who exercise their profession on a permanent basis in the province,

The name'ski school' may only be used by recognised organisations.

The schools are subject to the supervision of the Provincial Council.

Restrictions

The following requirements are necessary to obtain recognition:

1) Membership by ski instructors in a minimum number of eighteen and respectively four in the case of schools practising exclusively cross-country skiing disciplines and five in the case of schools practising exclusively snowboarding disciplines. In order to guarantee the necessary continuity in the operation of the tourist services, the instructors constituting the minimum number of staff must submit a declaration stating that they undertake to work at the school for at least 60 days during the winter opening period of the tourist resort's accommodation facilities and that they have not undertaken a similar commitment at another school;

2) Possession by one third of the teaching staff of a specialisation diploma and availability of teachers for at least three different specialisations;

3) The director, who is entrusted with the school's technical-functional coordination and legal representation, must hold the corresponding specialisation diploma (the qualification of 2nd, 3rd and 4th degree trainer in alpine disciplines, cross-country skiing and snowboarding disciplines, issued by FISI and the qualification of telemark instructor issued by FISI are equivalent to specialisation diplomas)

4) Possession by the ski instructor of the qualification of mountain guide-mountaineering instructor and of aspiring guide and attendance of a refresher course organised by the provincial college of ski instructors, at a frequency established by the same;

5) Availability of stable premises with autonomous premises destined exclusively for the activity of the school and suitable for uninterrupted operation throughout the season;

6) Internal organisation inspired by democratic forms of effective participation of all members in the school's management and organisation

7) Commitment of the school to lend its services in extraordinary rescue operations, to collaborate with the school authorities to encourage the widest possible diffusion of skiing and to cooperate with tourist boards and operators in promotional, advertising and operational actions aimed at increasing the influx of tourists to the province's winter resorts;

8) Adequate insurance cover, at the school's expense, against third party liability risks arising from the exercise of the profession

9) Name of the school such as not to create confusion with that of other schools that may exist in the same ski area

10) Presence of ski lifts and effective availability of a skiable area, for schools in the alpine and snowboard disciplines, and of cross-country ski runs for schools in the cross-country discipline.

An organisation may be recognised as a school even if its members do not reach the minimum number, provided that all other requirements are met and there are no other recognised schools in the same skiable area.
