Grants for the organisation of sporting events (application)

This is a grant for the one-off organisation of sporting events of provincial, regional, inter-regional, national or international interest held within the province, with estimated costs of between 5,000 and 100,000 euros.

The events must be approved by or included in the calendars of the relevant national sports federations, associated sports disciplines, sports promotion bodies, recognised associations or military sports groups and state bodies to which the sports club is affiliated.

The following expenses are eligible, relating to both the preparation and the execution of the activity for which the grant is awarded:
a) publicity for the initiative and the publication and dissemination of results;
b) hire of sports facilities or venues and their set-up, including outdoor venues;
c) services provided by referees, competition judges, medical and paramedical staff, qualified technical staff and collaborators, limited to the running of the event or the setting up of the venues, provided that these are unequivocally attributable to the event itself;
d) reimbursement of transport, board and lodging costs incurred in connection with the professional services provided by the persons referred to in point (c) above;
e) federation fees;
f) hire of equipment, sports equipment and motor vehicles;
g) ambulance services, public safety and sports safety services;
h) prizes in the form of tangible goods, up to a maximum of 3,000 euros, excluding cash prizes;
i) refreshments for participants, up to a limit of 20 per cent of the relevant expenditure.

The grant is awarded as follows:

a) 30 per cent of eligible expenditure, for the portion up to 50,000 euros, and in any event within the limits of the deficit and available resources;
b) 20 per cent of eligible expenditure, for the portion exceeding 50,000, and in any case within the limits of the budget deficit and available resources.

Subject to the maximum limit referred to in the preceding paragraph, the grant may be increased by 10% for events identified by the Provincial Executive as being of particular significance in relation to categories of athletes and/or of particular sporting and/or tourist importance for the local area or due to their historical significance, or which place particular emphasis on promoting gender equality and/or social cohesion.

Each applicant must submit a grant application for each event organised, up to a maximum of five applications per year.

All expenses relating to both the preparation and the implementation of the activity for which the grant is sought are eligible.

Subject to the availability of funds, as determined annually by the Provincial Executive, all eligible applications will be funded. If the available funds are insufficient to fully fund all eligible applications, the grant amount for each will be proportionally adjusted.

Amateur sports associations and clubs which:
a) are entered in the National Register of Amateur Sporting Activities (RAS);
b) are duly affiliated to national sports federations (FSN) or associated sports disciplines (DSA) or sports promotion bodies (EPS) or meritorious associations (AB) or military sports groups and state corps (GSM) recognised by CONI or CIP;
c) regularly carry out activities throughout the sporting year within the disciplines governed by the FSNs or DSAs, recognised by CONI or CIP;
d) have their registered office within the province;
e) have their own registered members;
f) carry out specific activities within the province aimed at promoting the sport in youth sectors as defined and regulated by the relevant FSNs or DSAs recognised by CONI or CIP.

Organising committees and associations or clubs organising sporting eventswhich:
a) have their registered office in the province of Trento;
b) are entered in the national register of amateur sporting activities (RAS);
c) are duly affiliated to FSNs, DSAs, EPSs, ABs or GSMs recognised by CONI or CIP;
d) have no registered athletes of their own or have fewer than 10;
and/or
e) do not have a youth section;
and/or
f) carry out their activities on an occasional basis, essentially limited to organised sporting events.

The application must be signed by the legal representative of the sports organisation.

2. A financial plan setting out projected income and expenditure.
3. In the case of applications relating to events that cannot be scheduled in advance, a certificate from the relevant federation or sports body confirming that the event covered by the application was not already scheduled by the deadline set for the ordinary application round (1–30 November).

Applications for funding must be submittedbetween 1 and 30 November each yearfor sporting events intended to take place in the year or sporting season following the submission of the application.

Only forevents that cannot be scheduled in advance – and which are certified as such by the relevant sports federation or body – grant applications must be submittedbetween 1 January and 30 September each year foreventsintended totake place after the application is submitted.

If, at the time of final reporting, the eligible expenditure is 30 per cent or more lower than the eligible expenditure specified when the grant was awarded, the grant shall be recalculated as follows:
a) 20 per cent of the eligible expenditure, for the portion up to 50,000 euros, and in any event within the limits of the shortfall;
b) 10 per cent of the eligible expenditure, for the portion exceeding 50,000 euros, and in any event within the limits of the shortfall.
