Description

This is a grant to help cover the costs incurred in connection with sporting activities taking place outside the province and relating to participation in championships or similar events organised and/or governed by sports federations, sports promotion bodies, sports discipline associations or recognised sports organisations, with expected expenditure of 8,000 euros or more.

The following expenses relating to activities carried out outside the province and pertaining to the sporting season in which the activity covered by the grant takes place – and which ends in the year following that in which the application is submitted – are eligible:
a) transport: for the purposes of mileage reimbursement, the tables used by the Province in force during the month in which the trip takes place shall apply;
b) board and lodging for athletes, accompanying persons and coaches;
c) competition entry fees;
d) pre-season training sessions and training camps;
e) medical supplies;
f) reimbursements and remuneration for the following sports professionals: coaches, instructors and fitness trainers;
g) reimbursements and remuneration for sports coaches registered with professional bodies;
h) reimbursements to sports volunteers.

The grant is awarded at a rate of 30 per cent of eligible expenditure and, in any event, subject to the deficit, available resources and a maximum amount of 25,000 euros.

Subject to the maximum limit, the grant may be increased to 50 per cent of eligible expenditure to promote gender equality in sports where participation by the under-represented gender is less than 35 per cent of the total number of athletes/and registered members at provincial level with the respective sports federation, based on the most recent completed sporting season. The increase applies only to eligible expenditure relating to the under-represented gender.

The grant is provided for under Article 15(1)(h) of Provincial Law No. 4 of 21 April 2016, ‘Provincial Law on Sport 2016’.
