By Resolution No. 1110 of 17 July 2026, the Provincial Executive approved this initiative, which focuses on Specific Objective 2.1, entitled “Promoting sustainable aquaculture activities, in particular by strengthening the competitiveness of production and ensuring that activities are environmentally sustainable in the long term”.

The call for proposals, in particular, implements Action 5, which aims to reduce the environmental impact of aquaculture.

There are various types of projects eligible for funding, including:

  • Optimising water resource management in inland aquaculture.
  • Encouraging integrated aquaculture and synergies between different production activities.
  • Making investments to improve the competitiveness, sustainability, profitability and resilience of businesses.

  • Promoting aquaculture systems that provide environmental services.

To fund the call for proposals (Action 5, Measure 221502) for the year 2026, the Autonomous Province of Trento has allocated a total of €1,338,769.41 for ordinary public expenditure.

This amount is co-financed 50 per cent by the European Union (€669,384.71), 35 per cent by the State (€468,569.29) and 15 per cent by the Province (€200,815.41).

In addition to this allocation , there is €1,000,000.00 in supplementary aid, funded entirely from the provincial budget.

Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the aquaculture sector may apply for funding if they:

Carry out aquaculture activities exclusively or predominantly (a requirement verified automatically via a Chamber of Commerce extract). 

Are registered in the Business Register under the special agricultural section for the activity ‘Freshwater aquaculture and related services’ (ATECO code 03.22). 

Hold at least one active farm code for the species ‘fish’ in the National Livestock Register Database (BDN), located in the province of Trento. 

They have a valid farm file held with the APPAG Paying Agency. 

They comply with the national collective labour agreement (CCNL) where they employ staff. 

Enterprises must employ fewer than 250 people, with an annual turnover not exceeding 50 million euros or a total annual balance sheet not exceeding 43 million euros (as defined for SMEs).

Applications must be submitted online via the provincial agricultural information system SRTrento at https://srt.infotn.it, which can also be accessed via the portal https://a4g.provincia.tn.it/ from Wednesday 22 July and no later than 1.00 pm on Wednesday 16 September 2026.

Access to the SRTrento members’ area is restricted to registered users only; therefore, each user must first register in accordance with the procedures set out in the user guide on the SRTrento website’s home page. Applications submitted must be signed using a valid digital signature.

Timeframes and deadlines

Eligibility of expenditure: expenditureis eligible if incurred and paid for the implementation of operations between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2029. 

Approval of the ranking list: the merit-based ranking list of applications submitted will be approved by a decision of the Head of the Agriculture Department within 30 days from the day following the closing date of the call for applications. 

Conclusion of the procedure: the decision to grant or refuse the grant will be issued within 90 days of the approval of the ranking list. 

Notification of commencement of activities: the beneficiary must, exclusively for projects which, at the time of submitting the application, have yet to be carried out, notify the date of commencement of activities no later than 45 days from the date of notification of the decision to grant the grant, failing which the grant will be revoked.

Project completion timeframe: projects must be completed and reported on within 6 months (for the purchase of goods, services and equipment only) or 18 months (for projects that also include building works) from notification of the grant decision.
