Contributions for damage caused by the disaster of 5 August 2022 - buildings

In the late afternoon of Friday 5 August 2022 an intense cloudburst hit a restricted area of the upper Val di Fassa producing not negligible damages to the infrastructural system and to several public and private properties in the municipalities of San Giovanni di Fassa, Campitello di Fassa and Mazzin.

Damaged private subjects can apply for a contribution or compensation for the damages suffered, as well as for the resumption of normal living conditions.

Specifically, the following expenses are eligible for a contribution

• demolition, repair and reconstruction of buildings used as dwellings and their appurtenances, including any work to clear materials and other operations functional to the repair and reconstruction
• purchase and repair of furniture and major household appliances.

The application may be submitted from 1 October to 31 December 2022.

The works must be completed within two years from the date of the decision to grant the contribution. Expenditure reports must be submitted within 30 days of the deadline for completion of the works. The deadline for completion of the works may be extended once only for a maximum period of one year and the deadline for reporting expenses for a further 30 days.

Contributions cannot be combined with tax deductions provided for renovation and energy-saving measures in respect of the works eligible for assistance. They are also not cumulative with any financial assistance granted directly by the State.

Private individuals owning residential properties damaged by the calamitous event of 5 August 2022 falling within the affected municipalities of San Giovanni di Fassa, Campitello di Fassa and Mazzin.

Contributions may also be granted in favour of persons who, at the time of the calamity, occupy as their main dwelling the damaged, destroyed or become uninhabitable real estate units, provided that they have acquired ownership or usufruct thereof at the time the contributions are granted.

The application must be submitted by the owner of the damaged property.

The application may also be submitted by persons who, at the time of the disaster, are the main occupants of the damaged, destroyed or unusable real estate units, provided that they have acquired ownership or usufruct at the time of the grant.

In the case of condominiums, for damage to common parts, the application for the grant is submitted by theadministrator.

The condominium administrator may be delegated by the owners to submit the grant application for the damage to their property.

The application may be submitted in the following alternative ways

  The documentation (application form and attachments) must be signed with a digital signature or a handwritten signature, scanned and attached to the email message. In the case of signature by hand, a copy of the subscriber's identity document must be attached;
• postal service (by registered mail with return receipt) together with a copy of the subscriber's identity document.
  Compliance with the submission deadline is documented by the date of dispatch;
• direct delivery to the competent provincial structure (Servizio Prevenzione Risks e Centrale Unica Emergenze - Ufficio Centrale Unica Emergenze - via Pedrotti, 18 - 38121 Trento) or through the peripheral assistance and information desks of the province.

The application can be submitted from 1 October to 31 December 2022.

Grants are awarded in chronological order of the date of receipt of applications and any additions.

Once the grant has been awarded, the applicant shall submit the necessary documentation for the accounting of the expenses incurred in order to obtain its payment.

The contributions are paid in a single instalment, subject to the cash budget of the Province, following the reporting of the expenses incurred.
