Contribution for the implementation of measures to eliminate or overcome architectural barriers in private buildings in order to enable disabled persons to carry out activities of daily living.

Description

It is possible to apply for a grant for private buildings for the following purposes

(a) elimination or overcoming of architectural barriers limiting access to the housing unit and/or the building containing it;

(b) adaptation of the dwelling unit to allow the disabled person to carry out the ordinary acts of daily living, limited to work on the entrance hall, the living room and/or kitchen, a toilet and the bedroom

(c) purchase and installation of equipment directly aimed at eliminating or overcoming architectural barriers, in relation to the type of disability.

Who it's for

Persons with physical, sensory or psychic disabilities who permanently encounter obstacles, limitations or hindrances in making use of housing facilities and who

  • have had their registered residence for at least two continuous years in a municipality in the Province of Trento; in the case of minors, the requirement of having had their registered residence for at least two continuous years may refer to at least one of their parents or, in the case of a foster child, to at least one of the foster carers
  • they have a family economic situation corresponding to a Family Economic Condition Indicator "I.C.E.F." not exceeding 0.90
  • they have their registered residence in the property subject to the architectural barriers abatement works or they have identified the housing unit to which they will transfer their registered residence affected by the grant.

They are or will be the owner of the dwelling on which the work is being carried out, or have rights in rem over it, or have obtained the willingness of a family member to accommodate them at their residence.

The application may be submitted by the user or by the person legally representing him/her (e.g. guardian, curator, support administrator, parent in the case of minors).

The application may be submitted

as simplified (work already carried out) or ordinary (work to be carried out);

at peripheral PAT offices or at the Patronage offices affiliated with the Province of Trento.

Documents to be submitted

For all:

  1. copy of the certification attesting to the disability condition, issued by a public medical commission;
  2. copy of the certificate issued by the general practitioner not older than 6 months at the date of submission of the grant application, certifying that, in relation to the physical condition resulting from the pathology from which the person with disabilities suffers (without specifying the pathology), the intervention subject of the grant application is necessary or in any case indispensable to mitigate the difficulties in relation to his/her actual needs on a personal, family and socio-relational level
  3. where the disabled person is not the exclusive owner of the dwelling unit concerned by the intervention, the declaration of consent of the owner or co-owners of the said dwelling unit to carry out the modifications to remove or overcome architectural barriers is required.

Further documentation defined by the regulations and differentiated according to the type of procedure (ordinary or simplified), the type of intervention (on common or private parts) and the type of building (single house or condominium).

Timeframes and deadlines

Applications may be submitted from 2 January to 31 March each year.

120 days

Maximum no. of waiting days

The 120 days run from the day after the final deadline for submitting applications.

Interventions subject to the ordinary procedure must be started, completed and accounted for within one year from the date of receipt of the notice of grant award (accounting form in the forms section).

For operations subject to the simplified procedure, documentation on works already carried out must be submitted at the same time as the grant application.

Invoices must be in the name of the disabled person, in the case of minors in the name of the parent submitting the application on behalf of the minor child.
