Compensation for trampling and grazing damage in the Stelvio National Park

Provincial Law no. 11 of 23 May 2007 (art. 44 ter, paragraph 5) and Provincial Council Resolution no. 739/2017, amended by Resolution no. 1963/2023, provide for compensation for trampling and grazing damage resulting from the imposition of constraints on the ordinary management of wild ungulates in the Trentino sector of the Stelvio Nature Park.

Trampling and grazing damage may concern

• vegetable gardens and fields
• fruit plants
• mown meadows
• grazed pastures

Both private individuals and agricultural enterprises can apply for compensation.

Applications must be submitted to the Stelvio National Park Management Office using the appropriate forms (see below)

The new resolution 1963/2023 revises the percentages of shortfall on hay meadows, the reference for the price of hay used to calculate compensation, which becomes that provided annually by CODIPRA, and the deadlines for submitting claims for damage on hay meadows and grazed pastures.

For the year 2023, the deadline for submitting claims for "damage from grazing and trampling on hay meadows" only has been postponed to 15 November.
As of the year 2024, the new application deadlines are set as follows:
- damage by ungulates on grazing land from 1 May to 30 June
- ungulate damage on hay meadows from 1 July to 30 September
