The transport of bicycles on public transport in Trentino is widespread and varied.
The opportunities available for bicycle transport are listed below.
Bicycle transport on trains along the Valsugana Railway
All trains (both Trentino Trasporti SpA and Trenitalia SpA) running on the Trento-Borgo Valsugana-Bassano del Grappa route, and vice versa, provide a bicycle transport service for up to a maximum of 6 bicycles.
Bicycle seat reservations may be made by 4.00 p.m. on the previous day by telephoning 0461 821000.
In the absence of a reservation, transport is not guaranteed.
Bicycle transport on trains along the Brenner Railway
Trains marked with the appropriate pictogram, operating along the Brenner Railway between Verona and Bolzano, are equipped to transport between 6 and 24 bicycles accompanying travellers.
Bicycle transport on trains along the Trento-Malè-Marilleva railway line
Trains running on the Trento-Mezzana route and vice versa provide a bicycle transport service for a maximum number of 4 or 8 seats.
On the Mostizzolo-Mezzana route, train + bicycle services are provided in summer, for a maximum number of 60 seats. On this route, from 1 to 29 August, the train service is supplemented by a BikeBus service with 21 seats.
Seat reservations for bicycles can be made up to 2 hours before departure, through the online service available on this page of the Trentino Trasporti website.
In the absence of a reservation, transport is not guaranteed.
Bike transport on suburban buses
On suburban buses, bicycle transport is possible, but is limited to the space available in the luggage compartment, in which the bicycle must be placed by the traveller. It is therefore necessary to ensure that there is space.
The availability of seats is variable and depends on the type of bus; on average, up to two bicycles can be transported.
