Water Resources Map

The Water Resources Charter represents a fundamental tool for the proper management of an increasingly precious resource such as water. The constant updating of this tool makes it possible to effectively protect the quality and quantity of groundwater in the provincial area, guaranteeing the safeguarding of sources intended for human consumption. Through increasingly precise and accurate mapping of the territory, the Water Resources Map makes it possible to plan urban development while respecting the environment and public health, protecting an essential natural heritage for present and future generations.

Description

The Water Resources Map is a specific instrument for the protection of water intended for human consumption, supplied to third parties by means of aqueducts of public interest, in the implementation of Article 94, paragraph 1, of Legislative Decree 152/2006; it also includes different supplies that are in any case worthy of protection, pursuant to paragraph 2 below, including mineral and thermal waters, as provided for by the provincial sector regulations.
The Water Resources Map was prepared following the entry into force of the Provincial Urban Plan (PUP), approved by Provincial Law no. 5 of 27 May 2008, and reported therein by way of reconnaissance in application of Article 21 of its implementation rules.
The Water Resources Map, approved by G.P. Resolution no. 2248 of 5 September 2008, includes springs, wells and surface waters used for drinking purposes with any flow rate; it also includes mineral water springs for bottling and thermal uses, as well as springs considered strategic for their peculiar characteristics of quality, quantity and vulnerability, even if not exploited for human use, which could constitute future reserves.
The Water Resources Map covers the entire Trentino territory at a scale of 1:10,000 and identifies the following protection areas: a) absolute protection areas; b) hydrogeological protection areas; c) hydrogeological protection areas. The absolute protection areas take on different colours according to the type of resource to be protected (see the relevant legend).

In the map, all other springs in the Register of Springs managed by the Geological Service are also indicated with a blue asterisk.

The Water Resources Map is periodically updated by the Provincial Council, according to the methods reported in Resolution G.P. no. 1197 of 7 July 2023:
