The Trentino Quality Trademark (MQT) specifies the origin of products, linking it to the high quality standards deriving from the production specifications with the values expressed by the Trentino Territorial Trademark, which represents the entire "Trentino" system made up of people, companies, local communities, territorial and environmental heritage, tradition and history.
Conformity with the quality requirements is verified by independent and accredited control bodies; subjects wishing to use the collective mark must be in possession of the Certificate of Conformity, issued by the Control Body, certifying compliance with the standards contained in the relevant production specifications and submit a specific application for a licence to use it to Trentino Marketing, indicating the products on which they intend to use the mark.

The Autonomous Province of Trento, in order to encourage companies to participate in quality schemes for agricultural products and foodstuffs, has made provision by Provincial Law no. 4/2003 and subsequent amendments, for the granting of contributions to partially cover the costs of product quality certification recognised at provincial level.
