The Geological-Structural Map of Trentino is published in GeoPDF format, which allows certain GIS functions to be made available in the PDF file standard.
In addition to this, the great advantage of the GeoPDF format is its high degree of compression, which allows GIS data to be easily disseminated quickly. It should be noted that GeoPDF files are not, however, an alternative to native GIS formats, as they do not allow, for example, the editing and updating of data; on the contrary, they make it possible, as in the specific case of the published Geological Structural Map, to consult online spatial information of a certain complexity by allowing its selective visualisation (by activating and deactivating layers), and by additionally associating attachments which may be useful for the understanding of the Cartography (such in-depth information can be found on the Geological Structural Map of Trentino by identifying the star symbols).
Please note that the correct interactive display of the map also depends on the browser used. If this does not work, it will be necessary to download the file onto your machine and open it with ADOBE READER.
