Description
Following the issuance of OPCM no. 3274 of 20 March 2003 and, in particular, OPCM no. 3519 of 28 April 2006, the State ordered that the Regions and the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano should update their lists of seismic zones starting from the reference seismic hazard map drawn up by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology.
By Resolution of the Provincial Council no. 1937 of 20 October 2023, the current seismic classification of the provincial territory was adopted. This, according to a principle of greater caution than previously adopted, classifies municipalities in seismic zones 2, 3 and 4. There are 4 municipalities in seismic zone 2, 147 municipalities in seismic zone 3, and 15 municipalities in seismic zone 4. Ala, Avio, Sagron Mis and Vallarsa fall in seismic zone 2, among the three most dangerous from a seismic point of view.
The inclusion of seismic zone 2, hitherto not used in the provincial classification, implies that a prior technical authorisation is required for interventions defined as 'relevant to the public interest'. This authorisation is managed by the Laboratory and Structural Controls Office of the Provincial Agency for Public Works, through the SUAP counter.
